SecTalks Meet Up Event [Google]
My Experience
On the 25th of February 2020, I took part in my first ever SecTalk event which was held at the Google Campus in Sydney, Australia. This was an event I attended with some of my University peers, it was the first capture the flag event that I've been to outside of beginner challenges we had held as part of the Cyber Security Society at UTS. I honestly had a great time even though it wasn't the most beginner friendly CTF I'm so glad I attended to not only challenge myself, but also network with other likeminded people who also share a real keen interest in Cyber Security.
We were able to work in teams to complete the CTF challenge, this really forced me out of my comfort zone working with people I'd never met before. Being able to work in groups really allowed me to see different perspectives that people had towards the problem, but also grasp some technical knowledge from some more experienced individuals who also attended the event. At the end of the challenge although I was not very close to the actual solution, it was great to see the creaters of the challenge unpack the solution and really taught me something I've never experienced before.
